The Treeing Tennessee Brindle is an American treeing hound of the Appalachian and Ozark cur type, gathered and preserved from the 1960s by Rev. Earl Phillips for its scenting power, open trailing voice and ability to tree game. Brindle, compact and shorter-eared than the Plott, it is described by the AKC as intelligent, brave and companionable — and it bays on the hunt, so expect a vocal dog. It is a working hound first: give it regular exercise and a secure area, and note that the AKC lists it in its Foundation Stock Service rather than as a fully recognised breed.
