The Steirische Rauhhaarbracke or coarse-haired Styrian hound is an Austrian scenthound of medium size with strong muscles and a serious but not vicious expression. The standard notes that its work does not only consist in hunting with giving tongue but very often in purely tracking wounded game in difficult mountain territory. Its rough coat is harsh, coarse and without gloss and forms a moustache; height at the withers is 45–53 cm overall — 47–53 cm for dogs and 45–51 cm for bitches.
