The Collie (Rough) is a British sheepdog that the FCI standard describes as a dog of great beauty, standing with impassive dignity, with no part out of proportion to the whole and a physical structure built on lines of strength and activity. Expression is called the most important point, obtained by the balance of skull and foreface with the size, shape, colour and placement of the eyes and the carriage of the ears. Its coat has a straight, harsh outer layer over a soft, furry undercoat, with a very abundant mane and frill; males stand 56–61 cm and females 51–56 cm.
