The Pudelpointer is a German versatile gundog with all the aptitudes required for work in the fields, in the woods and in the water, classified by the FCI among the continental pointing dogs. Ideally its conformation displays a Pointer of heavy type carrying a not-too-long rough coat 4–6 cm long at the withers, with a beard and a wood-shaving-like forelock, in brown, dead-leaf colour or black. Males stand 60–68 cm and females 55–63 cm at the withers.
