The Petit brabançon is the short-coated member of the three small Belgian companion breeds covered by a single FCI standard (no. 80-81-82); the two Griffons are the rough-coated ones. Its coat is harsh, flat and gleaming and at most 2 cm long, and it carries a dark mask; all the colours of the Griffons are accepted. The standard describes a well-balanced little guardian and companion dog, alert, proud, very attached to its owner and very watchful, neither timid nor aggressive, weighing 3.5 to 6 kg.
