At a glance
The Petit Bleu de Gascogne is an ancient French scenthound from Gascony, descended from the Grand Bleu de Gascogne and generally used on hare. It stands about 51–61 cm with a short, thick, very dense coat in the mottled blue of its parent breed. The UKC standard describes a trail hound of moderate speed that hunts in a leisurely, methodical manner and possesses, in the extreme, determination, endurance, self-confidence, remarkable scenting ability and a deep melodious voice; temperament is even and essentially friendly, some individuals outgoing and others somewhat reserved, but never shy or vicious.
