The Lapponian Herder is a Finnish reindeer-herding spitz, medium sized and clearly longer than it is tall, with strong bone and muscle but never a heavy impression. Its coat is expressly described by the standard as suited to the arctic climate: a medium-length or long, straight, rather erect and harsh outer coat over a fine, dense undercoat. Ideal height at the withers is 51 cm for males and 46 cm for females, with a tolerance of ±3 cm.
