Behaviour
Courageous boar hound with a very good nose
The FCI standard's Behaviour section describes a very good nose, piercing, and a dog that particularly enjoys difficult terrain and thickets. The Temperament section calls it excellent at approaching and a very good hunter, courageous when holding firm without being reckless, its courage and initiative letting it be used successfully in small packs on wild boar.
Occasionally obstinate and independent
The same section warns that although the breed can easily be taught to hunt boar, it shows itself occasionally to be obstinate and independent, and that its master should know how to make it obey starting at its youngest age.
