French Pointing Dog Gascogne Type

The French Pointing Dog, Gascogne type, is the large-size Braque Français; both French Pointing Dog types come from the south-west of France and the central Pyrenees, where they stayed in a pure state. It is a pointing dog of medium proportions and Braque type — noble in appearance, powerful without excessive heaviness, robust and strong-boned, with supple, quite loose skin and a rather thick, well-furnished chestnut-brown or chestnut-brown-and-white coat; males stand 60–69 cm and females 58–68 cm. The FCI standard in force since 2023 gives no Behaviour / Temperament section: it asks only for a frank expression, and disqualifies aggressive or overly shy dogs.
