At a glance
The Ariégeois is a medium-sized French scenthound from the Ariège, produced by crossing a briquet with a pack hound that may have been the Bleu de Gascogne or the Gascon Saintongeois. Light, elegant and distinguished, with a short, fine, dense coat of white with jet-black markings, males stand 52–58 cm and females 50–56 cm. The FCI standard describes a hardworking dog that shows much initiative and enterprise, has a resounding voice, and is happy, sociable and easy to train.
